Become a Member of Unirondack

Becoming a member of Unirondack is one way to support Unirondack and strengthen your connection to our community. It is a way of expressing your desire to support a place where UU values are lived— where acceptance, nurturing, and growth are a daily part of life. We rely on the strength of our membership to influence the direction of the organization and provide the foundation for the work we do each summer.

Unirondack offers the following categories of Membership:

  • Your Membership Helps Support Unirondack

Unirondack Serves UU Youth & Families

If you are a UU congregation in the St. Lawrence District or a district adjacent to the St. Lawrence District, we encourage your congregation to join Unirondack. Unirondack has served UU congregations for over 50 years as a summer camp for our children, a place to gather, a welcoming and supportive community, and a vital resource for UUs throughout the region. By joining Unirondack you help support this valuable resource for UU youth and their families.

    The Membership Process

In late October we will send your congregation an invitation to join Unirondack. Membership will run from October 1 until September 30 of the following year so we encourage your congregation to join in November. Please discuss joining Unirondack at your next board meeting.

    Unirondack Annual Meeting

If you join, your congregation is urged to select two delegates to attend our Annual Meeting. The delegates will elect members of the Unirondack Board of Directors and vote on proposed bylaw changes. We hold our Annual Meeting during the Unirondack Member’s Weekend, which will takes place over Indigenous People’s Day weekend.

    Membership Fee:

The cost for your Congregation to become a member of Unirondack is only $150. While the amount is minimal, the importance is not.

Where To Send Your Membership Fee

Please send a check for your dues today to: Unirondack, P.O. Box 7880, New York, NY 10116. And if you have any questions please don’t hesitate to contact us via e-mail at [email protected] or call us at (315) 376-6888.

  • Unirondack membership is open to families of current campers and to camper and staff alumni. Membership is also open to anyone who wishes to help support Unirondack (whether they have attended camp or not). We urge you to become a member. In addition to supporting Unirondack and strengthening your connection to our community, membership has a number of benefits.

Becoming a Family or Adult Individual Member provides you with the following benefits:

    • Members are invited to attend our 3-day Member’s Weekend

Our Member’s Weekend takes place Friday evening through Monday morning of Indigenous People’s Day Weekend. Family membership entitles you to bring your entire immediate family. To attend the weekend you must be a paid member by the end of July. Please note that space is limited, so we encourage you to register early. NOTE: There will be a $25 fee (for those over 5 yrs old) to cover food costs for the weekend.

    • Members can vote at our Annual Meeting

We hold our Annual Meeting on Saturday of the Member’s Weekend (Indigenous People’s Day Weekend) at 2pm. Members can vote at our Annual Meeting and at any special meeting called by the corporation. We want your voice to be heard when we elect our board members, vote on changes to the bylaws, and make decisions regarding the future of Unirondack. Family and individual adult membership entitles you to one vote at our Annual Meeting.

Of course, we know that the main reason you will want to be a member of Unirondack is because of what camp means to you.

NOTE TO CURRENT MEMBERS: If you are already a member, please note that membership dues notices will be sent in late September. Our hope is that you will renew your membership each year. Membership runs from October 1 until September 30 of the following year (the Unironadack fiscal year).

  • Youth Membership

(membership is valid Oct. 1-Sept 30 – the Unirondack fiscal year)

A non-voting Youth Membership is for campers or former campers under 18 years of age by the time of the Annual Meeting.

    • Members are invited to attend our 3-day Member’s Weekend free of charge. Non-Voting Youth Members must be accompanied by an adult member. NOTE: There will be a $25 fee per adult over 21 to cover food costs for the weekend.

    • We will be holding our Annual Meeting during our FREE Member’s Weekend. Non-Voting members can attend the Annual Meeting and provide their input during discussions but will not be able to participate in any formal voting.

    • Members receive priority summer registration from October 1 through December 31. That means that if a session is almost full, your registration will take precedence over a non-member’s registration during this period of time.

Of course, we know that the main reason you will want to be a member of Unirondack is because of what camp means to you.
