When Unirondack was founded nearly 80 years ago a foundation was put in place to ensure the longterm viability of the organization. Over the years, however, the foundation was continuously used and rarely added to.
In the early 00s we revisited our long-term strategic plan, beginning a new endowment campaign with a goal of reaching $1 million to matching our original foundation when adjusted for inflation.
Currently, our new endowment fund has over $600,000 and we’ve pledged not to use any of it until reaching our goal. So far, we’ve managed to steadily grow it, even managing the 2020-2021 season without it.
If you want to invest in the true success of the organization, our endowment fund is where your money will be best used. To create a fund we can use to ensure camp is around for the next 80 years.

To support our commitment that no camper be turned away on the basis of financial need, our campership mutual aid fund gives an average of $13,000 in tuition away to families in need. This can be in the form of a partial or full scholarship. Each year between 20 and 30 families are brought to camp with the help of this fund.

For more than 15 years, Unirondack has hosted a queer youth retreat every spring. With a pay-what-you-can model, we run this weekend from a place of dedication to its mission. Click here to learn more about our Queer Youth Advocacy Retreat.

Like many summer camps built in the 1950s, the needs of disabled people were an afterthought when Unirondack was first founded. Over the past several years we’ve worked to make changes to our program and our buildings and grounds. Funds raised here will support the construction of new ramps, door openers, and landscaping.
